Hey, Hot Shot! Entries for Week in Review

The Round Up: News and Not-to-be-missed Exhibitions

By Charlie Fish on February 21, 2012 10:32 AM

Cheung_Philip_The_West_Bank_1000.jpgJericho. From the series The West Bank, by Philip Cheung

There's been a flurry of HHS! activity happening at Jen Bekman Projects recently. In the past weeks, three photographers found through Hey, Hot Shot! have released limited-edition prints on 20x200: Philip Cheung (three-time Honorable Mention), Laura Plageman (First Edition 2011 Hot Shot) and Kurt Tong (2009 Ultra). Speaking of Kurt, his solo show, In Case it Rains in Heaven, made its NYC debut at JBG in January and is on view through March 4th.

Stay tuned for even more Hot Shot goodness. Upcoming on the JBG schedule are two more HHS!-centric shows: the Second Edition 2011 Showcase, featuring work by the Second Edition 2011 Hot Shots, in March, and 2009 Ultra Mike Sinclair's solo show, in May.

AROUND JBP
+ Congratulations to Hot Shot (and 20x200 artist) Donald Weber on his first prize win in World Press Photo's Portraits-stories category for his series Interrogations. A photobook of the series was also recently published and can be purchased here. Donald's been receiving a lot of deserved attention lately—the Magnum Foundation's Emergency Fund recently named him a 2012 grantee.

+ Congrats are also in order for Hot Shot Alejandro Cartagena, who was shortlisted for a Sony World Photography Award for his series Car Poolers. The nod generated several write-ups.

+ Fans of Roger Ballen have lots to be excited about. The South Africa-based photographer teamed up with rap-rave crew Die Antwoord to co-direct their "I Fink U Freeky" music video. Meanwhile, the Manchester Art Gallery in the U.K. is gearing up for a major exhibition of the artist's work, on view March 30th through May 13th. Did we mention you can buy his limited-edition photographs over at 20x200 right now?! And, finally, if you'd like to join Roger and 1000 Words photography magazine on their photography workshop retreat, the deadline for applications is March 1st. The workshop will take place from May 5th through the 9th in Fez, Morocco.

ON VIEW
+ Inspired by William Henry Fox Talbot, Hiroshi Sugimoto's Photogenic Drawings returns to, and enlarges, the 19th-century inventor's original paper negatives. The collaboration is currently on view at San Francisco's Fraenkel Gallery and closes February 25th.

+ In Miami? The Margulies Collection at the Warehouse features sculpture, painting and photography by renowned artists from around the world. Included in its current exhibition are works by Mary Ellen Mark and John Baldessari.

+ Comprising three different series and including photographs of Kristen McMenamy, Vivienne Westwood and William Eggleston, Juergen Teller's current show at Lehmann Maupin in NYC is on view through March 17th.

+ David LaChapelle's new series, Earth Laughs in Flowers, will make its U.S. debut at Fred Torres Collaborations in NYC. The series includes 10 large-scale photographs of Baroque-style floral still lifes and will be on view February 23rd through March 24th.

+ Cindy Sherman's work from the mid 1970s to the present is the subject of a retrospective at the MoMA in NYC. Featuring over 170 photographs, the exhibition will be on view from February 26th to June 11th.

Wall Street Journal Reviews JBG Summer Show! Plus, More News

By Charlie Fish on July 25, 2011 2:17 PM

balloons_youngna.jpgBalloons (Midtown, Manhattan), by Youngna Park

+ Dawn Till Dusk, on view at Jen Bekman Gallery through July 30th, was recently reviewed by the Wall Street Journal, where photography critic William Meyers wrote about Summer 2005 Hot Shot (and HHS! VIP) Youngna Park and HHS! panelist Todd Hido.

+ HHS! 2010 Contender, Honorable Mention and 20x200 artist Marion Belanger is featured in Guernica, showcasing 14 photographs from her series Continental Drift: Iceland/California. It was one of the photographs from the series, Rift #26 (Heimaey Houses), which was first featured in the Contender post and was then made a limited-edition print on 20x200. Which reminds me...

+ We here at HHS! promised you'd see one of the 2011 First Edition photographers' works fast-tracked into a 20x200 edition. Well, we've made the preliminary phone calls and are excited to announce that you will, very soon, be seeing this print! Be sure to keep an eye on your inbox to learn more and sign up for the 20x200 newsletter to stay up to date.

MORE PHOTOGRAPHY NEWS

+ Photographer David LaChapelle is back in the spotlight. Not only does he have a new exhibition—From Darkness to Light—at the Lever House in NYC through September 2nd, but he also just won a pre-trial ruling in his case against pop singer Rihanna. LaChapelle filed a claim in February against the star, claiming her video for her single "S&M" copied his lighting, props, set and mood from past shoots. The case was not dismissed and can now go to trial if not settled out of court.

News: Photobook Workshop, Holmes' Texters Series and Google+

By Charlie Fish on July 11, 2011 3:30 PM

5866203105_1f6e7c953f_o.jpgTexting, Crosby Street, 2011 by Joseph O. Holmes

+ HHS! Panelist Darius Himes is participating in a three-day photobook workshop in September. Photographers Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb will be in attendance in this Radius Books-hosted event, which is open to anyone "who is passionate about a photography project that he or she has been working on—from serious amateurs to seasoned professionals, from documentary to art photographers, from those photographing a theme, place or issue to those working on a more personal series of photographs of family or friends." Head to the Magnum Photos site for more information.

+ Hot Shot and 20x200 MVP Joseph O. Holmes' latest series, Texters, has been making the blogosphere rounds, being picked up by several notable sites in the last week and touted on Twitter. For the full series, check out the prolific photographer's photostream on Flickr.

+ Photographers have been paying attention to Google+, and not for reasons you might think. Flak Photo's Andy Adams got a conversation started after Photofocus and the Washington Post's BlogPost called attention to Google's Terms of Service.

Welcome back to our Week In Review, a short-and-sweet round-up of the week's best photo links and stories.

Hey, Hot Shot! News

+ 4th Guest Curator, Esopus Editor-in-Chief Tod Lippy, has been reviewing incoming HHS! entries and will be looking at all submissions through July 29th. That means you've got 10 DAYS to get your best work in front of Tod and be entered to win a lifetime subscription to Esopus magazine!

+ Two more reasons to enter: you can apply multiple times with different bodies of work (like contender and Curator's Choice Award Recipient Kyoshi Becker McKizzie) and you can even win twice* (like double Hot Shot and Ultra Joe Holmes). So, apply today—we love looking at and writing about your work!
* Although we can't guarantee that this will happen again in the near future.

+ Which reminds me, have you seen our latest contenders? Check out Thomas Prior and Jaap E. Helder.

+ A beautiful print by photographer Eirik Johnson is available this week on 20x200.

+ Also check out this interview with Eirik and a slideshow of his work on The Morning News.

+ Brian Ulrich reports that the Milwaukee Art Museum is hosting its first auction, including works by Colleen Plumb, Anna Shteynshleyger, Sonja Thomsen, Shimon & Lindeman, Jason Reblando, Fred Marsh, Aron Gent, Ciurej & Lochman and Jon Gitelson.

+ Comparative photography shows receding glaciers in the Himalayas. Don't miss this interactive panorama made with a photograph taken in 1921!

+ Zoe Strauss has launched a dedicated blog for her On The Beach project, documenting the oil spill. She's also raising money for the next 12 days, contribute here!

Have a great rest of the week! You should follow us on Twitter: @heyhotshot and be our friend on Facebook.

Happy hot and steamy July! And welcome back to our regularly-scheduled Week In Review, a short-and-sweet round-up of the week's best photo links and stories. We can hardly believe we're in month four of competition, which means you've got just a little time left—till July 29th—to submit your entry and be considered for our 4th Curator's Choice Award! Tod Lippy, editor-in-chief of the fabulous Esopus, will review all entries that come in by the 29th, and one photographer will receive a lifetime subscription to the magazine! Make sure to take a peek at their archives to see the tremendous range of essays, artifacts, portfolios and artist projects they've featured over the years.

Photography News

+ Jen Bekman has joined the Advisory Board for 25 for 25, AOL's new grant program, which will award $25,000 to 25 of "tomorrow's ground breakers and visionaries." Entries will be accepted from July 27th - September 1, 2010, and you can submit your information here to request application materials.

+ Speaking of great opportunities, the Aperture Portfolio Prize deadline is only a day away, on July 14th! They are looking specifically for work that hasn't been widely seen or published elsewhere, and for images that have been made within the last five years. The winner will receive a $5,000 prize and an exhibition in Aperture's gallery.

+ Interesting reading material: Now on Imprint: Why the photography book is thriving, in defiance of all available conventional wisdom.

+ Over on the 20x200 blog this week, we wrote about photographer Zoe Strauss's new project On the Beach, a documentary concerning the fallout of the BP Gulf oil disaster in affected coastal states. Take a look at her project and consider making a donation so that she can extend her time in the Gulf.

+ We recently released a beautiful, haunting edition on 20x200 by photographer Roger Ballen, to much enthusiasm and excitement. Collectors have begun to receive their editions, and photographer Matt Neibur had a moment of aesthetic communion with his postman (also a 20x200 fan) when he was delivered the print. We love these kinds of moments of synchronicity!

+ Congratulations to Mickey Smith, whose multi-paneled Collocation (Nature), a permanent glass installation she created for the University of Florida, was selected as one of the 40 best public artworks of 2009. An edition of two of the panels of the work (available as partner prints) is also available on 20x200.

Welcome back from the holidays, photo lovers! And welcome back to our regularly-scheduled Week In Review, a short-and-sweet round-up of the week's best photo links and stories.

Photography News

+ 2007 HHS! winner Clint Baclawski has been selected by Conscientious author and photographer Joerg Colberg to appear in the Griffin Museum of Photography's 16th annual juried exhibition. Also chosen for the for the show are recent HHS! contenders Alex Arzt and HHS! 2009 honorable mention Rylan Steele. The exhibit will be on display through August 29th, 2010 and the Griffin Museum is in Winchester, MA.

+ The 16th edition of Fraction Magazine is now available online. This issue features photographers reviewed by editor David Bram at this year's Review Santa Fe. Featured in the 16th issue is recent contender Taylor R. Glenn, and his understated and stunning portfolio of images from his series Far Chang, which follows a family-run artificial flower making factory in Huidong, China.

+ Also of note in the Fraction realm, although this time from their rich blog site, is a round-table discussion on self-publishing with Andy Adams of FlakPhoto, David Bram of Fraction Magazine, Darius Himes of Radius Books and Melanie McWhorter of photo-eye books. Check out what they have to say!

+ And speaking of photo books, and important industry-types, a few major photo deadlines are coming up for those of you with vested interests in advancing your profiles and projects:

  • The Aperture Portfolio Prize is accepting entries through July 14, 2010 (that is NEXT WEEK, folks!).
  • Blurb's annual Photography Book Now competition has its deadline fast on the heels of Aperture's, and Darius Himes will be selecting a winner from all of the submissions received by July 15th, 2010.
  • And lastly, just for the ladies: The Tracey Baran award is given to one emerging female photographer that is a U.S. citizen. The entry deadline is September 1, 2010. Read the full rules and submission guidelines here.

+ We were shocked to read about a publisher swiping Alec Soth's concept for a book cover, even after he denied them usage permission. In a follow-up post, Soth provided book covers to which he agreed to usage of his images.

+ Youngna Park and Yijun Liao have work included in Arario Gallery's Irrelevant show. Read all about it on the 20x200 blog and head over to Chelsea before August 6th.

+ Geoffrey Ellis' newly released zine, Get Off My Lawn, dedicated to photographers making work that are 34 years of age and older is going fast! Get oen before the edition of 222 sells out. (Having just celebrated my 35th this year, this zine's mission statement is one I can get behind!)

+ In case you missed it: did you read all about our 3rd Curator's Choice Award? Lesley A. Martin, publisher at Aperture books, selected Klea McKenna as the winner. Read what Martin had to say about her work and see McKenna's portfolio images in our post about it here.

+ Which also reminds us: Tod Lippy, HHS! Panelist and Editor-in-Chief of Esopus magazine, is currently our 4th Guest Curator. Tod will be reviewing all entries submitted before Thursday, July 29th, and the entrant he picks will receive a lifetime subscription to Esopus magazine, so submit your best work today!

Steps by Thomas Prior

Welcome back to the HHS! Week in Review, a handy roundup all the best photo links from the past week.

+ This paset week we released 20x200 editions of two photographs by Thomas Prior, whose work we first discovered when he entered last year's HHS! competition. These editions are a new favorite around our office.

+ Oh noooo...the C-prints are fading!! Collectors of photographs printed in the 1990's—such as those by Andreas Gursky—are advised to keep their unstable prints out of strong light or risk erasure. Considering that a Gursky print sold for $3.3 million at Sotheby's in 2007, collectors will definitely want to heed this advice.

+ We just posted an exhaustive review of upcoming photo deadlines including: Daylight/CDS competition, Present Tense at PCNW, Aperture Portfolio Prize, Blurb's Photo Book Now, and 1000 Words' workshop in Morocco. There is literally something for everyone, so go read up and don't miss out.

+ A fond farewell to Nymphoto, one of our favorite photo blogs, who announced what may be a permanent hiatus on Friday. We've spent many hours perusing the sidebar of conversations. You will be missed!

+ Last week, we got a mention from @ElizaGregory who tweeted "@heyhotshot Your ratio of time spent on application to potential benefit to applicant is awesome." We're flattered! But it's true, we're really honored by each entry to HHS! and we love spending time reviewing the work. Have you seen the write-ups of our latest contenders? Stacia Prosser, Jo Ann Walters, Sheri Manson, Janet Taylor, Kevin C. Moore

+ It's Nina Berman's turn at the Whitney on May 28th! You're invited to My Turn, "a unique night of dialogue and interaction" that promises to bring the war home.

+ After a brief blip, Joe's NYC photoblog (by Joseph Holmes, for the unacquainted) is back.

+ Gregory Krum's solo show ...Practice... recently opened at Jen Bekman Gallery and we've got install shots up on the blog. Don't miss this great review on the NYT's T Magazine Blog. The show remains on view till Saturday, June 27th.

+ Rachel Sussman speaks about The Oldest Living Things in the World at GEL 2010.

+ Raul Gutierrez linked to this great edit of photos of Saturn on The Big Picture.

+ Kevin Cherry's Mull it Over interviews contender Greg E. Jones

+ Eirik Johnson's show Sawdust Mountain at the Aperture Gallery in NY is an ArtForum critic's pick. Aperture has also made a podcast of Eirik discussing the series available online, which you can listen to right here.

Welcome back to the HHS! Week in Review. Every Monday, as an interlude between our bi-weekly Newsletter, we briefly roundup our the posts, links, and events from here and around the photo world. Here we go!

  • Last Friday, 20x200 revealed this week's luminous photo edition by playing a game of twitter hangman. Some clever people guessed: T_DD H_D_ -- and they were right! Subscribers get the first grab, just sayin'.
  • The NY Photo Festival opens this Thursday and there's a great lineup of exhibitions, lectures and events during the four-day event. Also, while you're in DUMBO, be sure to catch The Portrait As Allegory and Graphic Intersections at Umbrage Gallery, featuring works by Birthe Piontek, Cara Phillips and Scott Eiden.
  • The photographer at work while the artist is present. A look at Marco Anelli's photographic documentation of Marina Abramović's ongoing performance at the MoMA.
  • Darius Himes awards photographer Phil Underdown the first HHS! Curator's Choice Prize.
  • All contenders who apply by May 20th are eligible for the second Curator's Choice Prize, a selection of five photography titles from Chronicle Books, selected by CEO of Chronicle, Nion McEvoy. Read all the details and get those entries in!
  • A solo-show of work by Juliane Eirich opened on Saturday at Gallery Schuster Miami
  • Joerg Colberg has posted his recap of Hyeres 2010. The only differences between the fashion crowd and photography crowd, he writes, is higher heels and bigger posses. (Also, note the work of Carlo Van de Roer hiding sneakily in the background of the second to last photo).
  • Have you read our latest contender post? Michael Ten Pas's work is funny in a way that is neither irony nor LOLcats.
  • Last but not least: Gregory Krum's ...Practice..., featuring thirty-seven photographs, opens at Jen Bekman Gallery this Friday, May 14th, from 6 - 8 p.m.

The photographs are gorgeous and we couldn't be happier to have them all ready for you to hang in your home.

Photography on 20x200

wir-zuckerman.jpg Blue-and-yellow Macaw_044 by Andrew Zuckerman

This week on 20x200 we were excited to release a starkly colorful edition by studio-photographer Andrew Zuckerman. The images seem to be straight forward, but perfectly capturing these rare species in motion is no easy task. The grand scheme his work is extremely ambitious and interesting:

The animal series will continue with endangered animals; the human portraits will continue into fashion and film. Ultimately, the volumes will comprise a singular view of both the animal and human world, brought into focus under one lens, in one light.

wir-bird-book.jpg
Don't miss the high definition BIRD film (set, appropriately, to Animal Collective.) Also, our awesome friends at Chronicle Books are offering an exclusive discount: 30% off and free shipping (within North America) on purchases of Andrew Zuckerman's BIRD book, featuring 200 color photographs from the series. Simply use promo code BIRD30 at checkout on ChronicleBooks.com

(Two) Weeks in Review: March 12th, 2010

By Casey on March 12, 2010 3:43 PM

Last Friday we were on the front lines of Art Fair Survival Kit Handout and preparing to for the Hot Shot opening, so didn't get to check in here at the Week in Review. But, we're back today with two weeks in review, so read on to get the latest:

Hey, Hot Shot! at Jen Bekman Gallery

Last Friday marked the opening of the latest Hey, Hot Shot! Exhibition at Jen Bekman Gallery. The opening was a hit, with all five of this round's Hot Shots in attendance. Elizabeth Leitzell took a set of great photos both of people at the opening and the show installation. With such a diverse group of work, we were biting our nails here at HQ about how all the different bodies of work would play off of each other in the tiny space that is our gallery, but are thrilled with how the exhibit looks!

wir-pdn-30-2010.png Hot Shots Alejandro Cartagena and Ben Roberts have been named to PDN's top 30 under 30. "We salute these 30 individuals who are helping to define what being a photographer means today, " writes editor Conor Risch.
hhs-wir-sussman.jpg 31 Women in Art Photography opened last weekend in New York, and includes Rachel Sussman and Jessica Eaton, and 20x200 artists Emily Shur and Paula McCartney among other incredible photographers. Check out our writeup of Rachel Sussman's Oldest Living Things series and then swing by the show to see the work in person!

In the 20x200 newsletter this week, Jen wrote that she has been "trying to get [Hey, Hot Shot! panelist] Kent Rogowski to edition a couple of his bears for years." Finally her persistence has paid off with this week's photo edition: a pair of Kent's inside out bear photographs. While lovebirds are sure to see the sweetness in these prints, misanthropes will also relate to the grotesque reminder of hearts turned inside out. It all depends on how you look at it!

Week in Review: January 15th, 2010

It's that time again for the Week in Review, where we reminisce on the week, point out things we saw on the internet and drop hints about what the future holds.

Haiti:
- We were shocked and quite somber this week around the HQ after hearing—and seeing—all the destruction from the earthquake in Haiti. The images we're seeing from Port-au-Prince are incredibly humbling, painful and emotional to process. We wanted to take a minute to recognize all the incredible photographers who are putting their lives on the line to show the rest of the world how this devastating story is unfolding and also offer sympathy to all the individuals, families and organizations that have been affected.

- The Big Picture has two posts (Earthquake in Haiti, Haiti 48 Hours Later) full of images from press photographers on location, and if you've seen other documentation, please let us know in the comments.

Google has a great list of ways you can help, and don't forget that you can easily donate $10 to the Red Cross by texting HAITI to 90999 and donate $5 to Yele's Earthquake Relief efforts by texting YELE to 501501. It's super easy and the donation will be added directly to your next cellphone bill.

Jen Bekman Gallery:
- Tonight from 6 - 8 p.m. you're cordially invited to the opening of Clare Grill's NYC debut solo exhibition, What You're Told, at Jen Bekman Gallery. The show features six paintings on canvas and eleven works on paper; you can see more images here and check out our Facebook invite for more info. Hope to see you there!

HHS! News:
- Our Hot Shot Q&A series is drawing to a close. Check back on Monday for our final Q&A with Hot Shot Marisa Aragona. So far we've heard from Jessica Eaton, Justin James King, Alejandro Cartagena, and Leah Tepper Byrne. If you missed any of these conversations, be sure to check them out.

- The first ever Too Much Chocolate + Kodak Film Grant was awarded to ten deserving photographers, including Hot Shots Leah Tepper Byrne, Molly Landreth and Honorable Mention Magda Biernat. They will get their choice of film from Kodak to complete a new or ongoing personal project in 2010. Congratulations!

- Panelist Lesley A. Martin met with photographer Joel Meyerowitz at the NY Public Library for a public discussion of photo books earlier this week.

On the web:
- Have you seen our Tumblr? Throughout the week we've been posting images that catch our eye, quips from our office, sneak-peeks of secret things, and photos of dogs and kittens. Head over there and subscribe to that nonsense!

- Prison Photography ran a photo feature on Hot Shot Leah Tepper Bryne with some nice images of her work!

- The Future of Photobooks conversation led by Miki Johnson of LiveBooks RESOLVE Blog and Andy Adams of Flak Photo also continues asking questions like, "How should photobook funding evolve in the next decade?" and "What are the best printers if you want to self-publish a photo book?" Head over to RESOLVE to join in on, or read the discussion.

- On the topic of photo books, photo-eye just published their list of the "Best Photobooks of 2009" as selected by a group of photographers, editors, publishers and bookmakers. You can also see a longer list of all the books that received at least one vote—the breadth and beauty of what was published in '09 is shocking!

offSET #29, New York by Lacey Terrell

- Did you catch our 20x200 photo release this week? It's a richly textural photograph called offSET #29, New York by Honorable Mention Lacey Terrell.

- Last but not least, we love how much art is hanging in the London flat of photographer (and friend of many-of-us here!) Rion Nakaya, who appeared on Design*Sponge earlier this week.

Did we miss anything worth seeing this week? Leave a comment or reply to @heyhotshot on Twitter and let us know!

Week in Review: January 8th, 2010

umbrico_suns_pdp.jpg 5,537,594 Suns by Penelope Umbrico

Hello dear readers and photographers. We're starting a new series called Week in Review, where we reminisce on the highlights of each week, point out some great things we saw on the internet, and drop hints about what the future holds!

Openings:

- On Wednesday, a whole bunch of us headed to Brooklyn to catch the opening of Leonards for Leonard & 5,537,594 Suns (above), two found-photographic installations at BAM by Penelope Umbrico (also a 20x200 edition-maker). The works are photographic in the unorthodox sense that Umbrico used printouts of photographs she found on Google Images and Flickr to create her installations. See this next time you catch a movie at BAM, highly recommended!

Natman Room, BAM Peter Jay Sharp Building
Jan 6-Mar 14, 2010
30 Lafayette Ave, Brooklyn, NY

- Versus, a show pitting photographers against each other as well as pairing them together, opened at Hous Projects yesterday. The show includes 2008 Second Edition Hot Shot Cara Phillips, photographer and 20x200 edition-maker Brian Ulrich, and 2008 Second Edition Honorable Mention Alex Leme, among others.

Hous Projects
Mon-Sat, 10 am-6 pm
January 7 - March 8, 2010 31 Howard Street 2nd fl
New York, New York

Hot Shot Q&As:
- We want to get to know the person behind the camera so each round of HHS! we send out our trusty questionnaire to each of the Hot Shots. This week we heard from Leah Tepper Byrne and Alejandro Cartagena. The last three Q&As will run this coming Monday, Wednesday and the Monday after that, so get pumped and stay tuned.

On the web:

- As if three blogs wasn't enough for you, JBP is officially on Tumblr! We haven't made a fuss about it yet since we're still kicking the tires, but it's a casual running dialogue from our team in New York (a.k.a. an opportunity for us to share the funny things we find on the internet and drop hints about upcoming editions, exhibitions and things you can look forward to from JBP). If you're on Tumblr, follow us for the inside scoop.

- 01 Magazine released their Photography Issue including the work of Summer 2005 Hot Shot Noah Kalina and 2009 Second Edition Hot Shot Jessica Eaton.

- Online art resource Culturehall presented a showcase of work including the Aura Portraits of Fall 2007 Hot Shot Carlo Van de Roer and work by Honorable Mention Alex Leme. The showcase, which also includes Gina Levay and Matthew Pillsbury, was curated by Ruben Natal-San Miguel (also curator of the aforementioned Versus show) and runs on the front page of Culturehall through January 12th.

- We're not entirely sure whether Polaroid fans should rejoice or beware, all we know for sure is that Lady Gaga has officially been appointed Creative Director of Polaroid.

- Tomorrow is your very last day to catch Mixtape at Jen Bekman Gallery so scurry on down to Spring Street and check it out. There are lots of Hot Shots in the show and I can attest to the fact that the work is even more impressive in person than on the screen. After this show comes down JBG will be unveiling What You're Told, the NYC debut solo show of painter Clare Grill.
